To me the biggest accomplishment of this film is successfully using D&D/Forgotten Realms fantasy gaboldygook in the dialogue without too many hiccups, which isn't nothing. Otherwise, the film is fine, although all the main character emotional arcs feel a scene or two short of really holding enough weight, and the script contains too many self aware, ironic beats for its emotional messages and payoff to really work.
It was hard to get too invested in anything beyond the visual spectacle.
