Denis really did make a better movie this time around, like I thought it was weird how in all the press interviews leading up to the release he kept saying how much better “Part 2” was going to be than “Part 1” - I mean did you make a bad movie with “Part 1” or something? But anyways, “Dune: Part 2” is great, a tighter and more exciting movie all around than “Part 1” by virtue of not being so bogged down with world building and exposition. The cast does a great job across the board, though Zendaya and Austin Butler stood out in particular with very memorable performances. Christopher Walken’s performance also stood out, but maybe in a negative way; I personally would have gone with another actor for the Emperor. My main complaint with the film is also my main complaint with the book in that the ending feels a little jarring and abrupt, but I can't knock the movie too much for just being a faithful adaptation of the source material. A very enjoyable experience all around though, and personally I think I'm more likely to rewatch it than “Part 1.”
Though those cowards still won't say jihad.
